MAKE-UP 101 (Base)

For the longest time, foundations were used solely to conceal and hide the imperfections of our face. Likewise, most people think that this is the only base that should be applied on our face.

Applying the base in your face is very important. Our face is our canvass and a canvass must feel and look clean and smooth. Hence, we should hide all the flaws on our face. Make-up applied on our face without a perfect base will look messy. So here are the the steps in achieving the perfect base for your face.

1. MOISTURIZER: For some of us, putting moisturizers on our face is part of our daily facial routine.Perhaps, applying moisturizer cream is also a must-do for our make-up routine. Moisturizing your face will help your face be hydrated at the same time will eliminate cracks in your skin that were caused by dryness and dullness.

WHAT TO USE: You can find a number of moisturizers in the market. You just have to find the right product that would work best in your face. Also, some cosmetic line such as MAC and ELF have their own moisturizer brand. Yet, I shall say that any moisturizer of your choice would do.
Just in case you are still not decided what brand of moisturizer to use, I recommend Olay Total Effects because it works as a moisturizer, a UV cream and an anti-aging cream.
WHERE TO APPLY: Moisturizer,Primer and Foundation must be applied all around your face up to your neck. This will make the base of your make-up  to look more natural.
2. PRIMER:  The purpose of primer is to maintain your make-up for longer hours.

3. FOUNDATION:  I got an oily face and most people would recommend to use a Powder Foundation.Liquid foundations are better for base because it blends to your skin and looks natural. Don’t fret about the oiliness on your skin because some cosmetic brands had already revolutionized an oil control liquid foundation. Also, you’ll put a setting powder at the end of this tutorials. So you don’t have to be afraid on using liquid foundation.

WHAT TO USE: As mentioned above, I recommend using a liquid foundation.
TONE: You should choose a tone that resembles most your skin tone for a more natural look.Do not use a lighter or darker tone.
TIP: To make the application of your make up faster, you may mix your primer and foundation before applying them to your face.

4. CONCEALER: The best friend of every women with big eye bags and dark circles around their eyes. From the word itself, concealers are used to conceal dark spots.

TONE:Since the shade of your foundations should be the color closest to your skin tone, concealers must be one shade lighter than your skin tone since it aims to hide dark spots.
WHERE TO APPLY: Apply equal amount under your eyes and in on your eye lids. Putting concealer on your eyelids will serve as a base for your eye shadow. Also, put concealer on your nose, since the nose tends to become red.

5. (SETTING) POWDER: Putting powder will remove all the oiliness caused by the creams you applied.

TONE: Again for a more natural look, choose a shade closest to your skin tone.
TIP: Use a sponge instead of a pink puff when applying a setting powder.
