RESUME WRITING 101 (PARTS)

This is the second part of my previous post regarding the presentation of your RESUME.Now I will discuss the things that should be included in your resume.
1. PHOTO- This is an optional part, however, unless it is asked by the employer, you can disregard putting a photo on your resume.
Nevertheless,if you choose to put a photo on your resume you must remember the following rules.
Decent ID picture- In this era of selfies, it is easy for everyone of us to do crazy poses on our smart phones and tablets and post it in the web. Do you know what is crazier? It is putting those everyday selfies on our resume. Yes you might think that you are the most beautiful person in the world with your filtered selfies. However, selfies which are often informal, that is, photo on bathrooms, bedrooms and mostly everywhere, photo with different angles of your face and photos with casual clothing, will surely not impress your possible employers. Worse, they may be disgusted on how unprofessional you are. It is not too expensive and difficult to have your ID picture on a studio. Might as well, take the effort to have your photo taken to a studio.
2.  NAME- Obviously, this item should be included in everyone's resume. This item should be highlighted by having a different font size .
3. CONTACT DETAILS- This is one of the most important parts of your resume so we should not be afraid to put all the available contact information we have.
Address- You may include your temporary and permanent address for this part.
Contact Number-Don't be afraid to include all your available contact numbers for this will increase your chances of being reached.
Email address- Be careful in putting your email address. Also, regularly check your email.
Avoid email address of this kind:
      • doubledeckburger@domain.com
      • mozarellacheese@domain.com
      • love_you_forever@domain.com
      • 4167231@domain.com
Rather make sure your email address has your name or initials in it.Say for example your name is Juan dela Cruz. You may consider the following email addresses.
      • jdelacruz@domain.com
      • juandelacruz@domain.com
      • jd_cruz@domain.com
      • cruzjuan@domain.com
      • cruz_juan@domain.com
4. WORK EXPERIENCE- This can be divided into two parts.

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE-The traditional resume list your work experience chronologically backwards. However, this may not be helpful on your part especially if you got lots of different jobs.Yet,it's better to have an special item for the relevant work experience on your resume. Again, the rule is,all the most important details must be found on the first page.Hence, you should highlight your previous job experience in relation to the job your applying for.

ADDITIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE - This part are for the other jobs you had which is not related to your job you are applying for.
5. EDUCATION- This part should only include your college degree, master degree, vocational and doctoral degrees. Employers don't care about your primary and secondary schools. Also,Highlight your honors and awards.
6. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE- Include your rating and the date you took the exam. Make sure,to only include exams that you passed.
7. SKILLS- Only put skills that is related to the job. Also, it is nice to highlight your computer skills and your proficiency in using different software.
