Comedy Cartel is more than just a COMEDY

Just last month I posted a blog post about my first experience watching one of Comedy Cartel Philippines' show. It was indeed a terrific fun first time experience. Nonetheless, I was lucky enough to watch a show for the second time and even luckier to be able to have a fun but sensible talk with the group’s manager, namely Patrick Cruz.

So here are the three fun facts I learned about Comedy Cartel.

Gang’s Goals

According to Mr.Patrick Cruz, aside from bringing laughter to their audience, his team has 3 underlying goals.
First is to give RELIEF to their audience through the total performance of their comedians. Second is to establish RELATABILITY to their spectators through making jokes about everyday experiences. Lastly is to RAISE AWARENESS about Point of View Comedy,a show wherein the performer does a funny monologue without humiliating anyone.

Oh yes! You read it right. Comedy Cartel Philippines welcomes aspiring comedians by conducting workshops about stand-up comedy and at the same time having auditions to their trainees.

In fact, Comedy Cartel has a regular Open Mic show at Walrus Bar in Katipunan every Wednesdays. Aside from discovering new talents, the event also aims to encourage new comedians to perform on-stage.
Mr. Cruz also shared that they are not really strict about the sets that each comedian shall deliver. Usually, they will just mentor each performer on how they can improve their set and make it funnier.
Comedians of all ages and professions
Also, Mr. Cruz said that the group's comedians came from different backgrounds. Say for instance they got a businessman, website designer, writer and even a student in their group.

Truly Comedy Cartel Philippines is more than just a guild of comedians. It is a group of funny fellas with a noble aim of promoting a kind of comedy that does not bully or hurt anyone's feelings. I applaud these guys for uplifting comedic act here in the Philippines.
